MEJA

Name: Meja [Meiy-ah] (from 'mäghin', Old Swedish, meaning 'power', 'strength')
Race: Human
Age: 18
Height: 160 cm
Skin: Beige Caucasian
Eyes: Blue/Milky White
Hair: Dark brown, thick, curly, reaches just below shoulder length. She keeps her fringe longer on the scarred side of her face and tends to hide her bad eye when she feels self-conscious. Her hairstyle also covers her damaged ear and some patches around her ear and forehead where hair won't grow. She has no eyelashes on the damaged eye, and no eyebrow above it. She does have armpit hair on that side, as her armpit wasn't injured.
Build/Appearance: Petite, thin, with knobbly knees. Somewhat narrow hips and small breasts. Her (right) undamaged ear is quite big and portruding. She has a nice smile and long front teeth.
Special Faculties: Nearly half of her body along her left side is covered with white-pink scars. This is from an accident that happened to her as a child, during which her maternal grandmother died when trying to protect her. Meja's left eye was blinded and has taken a milky white colour, the eyelid on that side droops. Not much remains of her left ear. She has retained most of the mobility in her left arm, hand, and leg thanks to a wise healer.
Clothing and Accessories: She typically styles herself in footlong dresses (as is common for the women of her society) of a few different cuts and in Medieval style. Meja tends to wear darker colours like purple, green, blue, and a little black (which is more expensive). Her clothes have no fancy decorations or borders as her family isn't rich enough for that, and her dresses and surcoats are made out of wool and linen (not expensive materials like silk or velvet). Meja wears leather shoes with a pointed toe, and sometimes a belt with pockets to put herbs or medicines in.

Personality: Stubborn, a little bit sullen at times but gentle and always kind to the people around her. Children tend to take to her easily. Even though she is quite confident, her disfigurement makes her shy and embarassed at times, but if she gets hurt by people's reactions and remarks she never shows it publicly.

Background: Meja sells herbs and concoctions in the big city. She wants to become a healer by profession but her parents can't afford for her to study for a Maester. She is also too lowborn and her family doesn't have good enough ties to attract any attention from someone for her to become their apprentice for free, even though she is very skilled. What she knows of healing she has learnt from an old woman in the village outside of the city where she grew up. Her mother has been sickly for a some years so Meja has been caring for her and met the old wise woman that way.

She spends a lot of time at her Uncle and Aunt's inn, where her they dote on her. There she also has the company of her two younger cousins (of which the younger is infatuated with her), and her paternal Grandmother.
